Hello, I´m Dr. Julia Reeve

I am a gynaecologist, psychotherapist, sexologist, and expert on vaginismus. I am also the author of the book:  "The Vaginismus Book".

Today, I can say that the treatment of the vast majority of women/couples suffering from vaginismus is successful, and even after the very first therapy sessions, you can feel the change'.

Meet Dr. Julia Reeve

How Dr. Reeve Became an Expert on Vaginismus

Dr. Reeve grew up bilingual, with a German mother and a British father from England. At the age of 16, she moved to Germany, where she later studied human medicine at the University of Cologne and qualified as a medical doctor. She went on to specialize in gynaecology and obstetrics.

Since 1999, Dr. Reeve has lived in the Netherlands while continuing her clinical work in Germany, crossing the border daily. She opened her gynaecological practice in 1994 and, over more than 30 years of clinical experience, quickly recognised that many women needed far more than conventional medical care alone.

Driven by this insight, she pursued extensive further training in psychotherapy and sexology, deepening her expertise in the treatment of complex conditions such as vaginismus and other intimacy-related pain conditions. Her integrative approach combines medical knowledge with psychological understanding, compassion, and practical guidance.

In the summer of 2024, Dr. Reeve retired from her in-person medical practice. Today, she continues to support women worldwide through online coaching, education, and carefully designed resources — offering discreet, professional, and deeply empathetic support to women who are ready to reclaim confidence, connection, and ease in their lives.

Postgraduate Studies and Specializations:

Over the years, she expanded her expertise through postgraduate training in the following areas:

✔ Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy
✔ Psychosomatics
✔ Family Therapy
✔ Sexology

These additional qualifications allow her to take a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to supporting women with vaginismus and related concerns — addressing both the physical and emotional dimensions with clarity, compassion, and clinical depth.

How Dr. Reeve Developed Her Approach to Vaginismus

Over the years, she has developed a structured, compassionate approach to supporting women with vaginismus.

This work has been shaped not only by her professional training, but also by years of listening closely to the women she supports. Through ongoing learning, reflection, and patient feedback, her approach has gradually evolved into the method she uses today.

A pivotal moment came when she herself underwent training for flight phobia. Experiencing the process from the inside helped her recognise how powerful gradual, respectful exposure can be when fear has taken hold in the body. She realised that the same principles apply to vaginismus — when it is approached gently, safely, and without pressure.

At the heart of her work is the understanding that progress happens at an individual pace. When appropriate and available, she also encourages the thoughtful involvement of a partner, as this can support trust, communication, and shared understanding.

Because her work does not involve physical treatment, online support works exceptionally well. It allows for privacy, consistency, and a calm, supportive environment in which meaningful change can take place.
